Are you passionate about hiking and sharing the beauty of Newfoundland’s East Coast Trail? karibu adventures is seeking a experienced, and enthusiastic Hiking Guide/Tour Leader to lead our small group hiking and cultural tours along the stunning East Coast Trail and Bonavista Peninsula in Newfoundland. The successful candidate would lead two 9-day small group tours, running June 25 – July 3, and July 5 – July 13, 2025. The tours each have a mximum of 11 guests and include 4 segments of the East Coast Trail along the Avalon Peninsula and one short hike on the Bonavista Peninsula. In addition to hiking, the tours also include cultural and wildlife experiences, including whale watching, storytelling and foraging with local cultural leaders. The successful candidate would be responsible for: -tour coordination and execution; ensuring each element of the tour is being delivered as per the itinerary in a professional manner, communicating with suppliers around timing, pickup, reservations etc. -guest management and relations ;maintaining strong communications with guests, ensuring they are aware of timing, clothing needs and itinerary requirements, responding to their needs and enquiries, and creating a convivial environment for learning and having fun -guest safety; ensuring all appropriate measures are taken to deliver the itinerary program safely, including making decisions with regards to weather and trail conditions and guests’ phyical abilities -hiking leader; leading all hikes, providing first aid assistance if needed and maintaining safety standards on the trail, while fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for hikers of various skill levels. Exigences
• Certification: Wilderness First Aid, or equivalent. • Local Expertise: Familiarity with the East Coast Trail and Newfoundland’s terrain. • Experience: At least 1 year of guiding small group tours, preferably in hiking or adventure travel. • Organization: Strong organizational skills and xcellent communication, storytelling, and leadership abilities.
