Job description
Terre Boréale specializes in summer backpacking, hiking, and canoeing tours, and is currently expanding its winter offerings. We are seeking a dedicated guide and interpreter to lead our captivating “Beyond the Arctic Circle” tours scheduled for February and March 2024. During this exhilarating 5-day adventure, you’ll take the reins, leading your group on a journey from Whitehorse to the NWT/YT border via the stunning Dempster Highway. The tour includes overnight stays in Dawson City and Eagle Plains, where you and your group will enjoy the comforts of hotel and motel accommodations. As you traverse this picturesque route, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking vistas and search for native wildlife. Every evening, when the sky is clear, you’ll guide your guests outside to witness the awe-inspiring northern lights.
All breakfasts and dinners will be taken restaurants, while lunches will be gathered in the mornings and enjoyed on the go.
Requirements
- Wilderness Advanced First Aid certification valid
- Class 4 Driver’s License
- Experience guiding in winter in the north
- Knowledge of Yukon First Nations history and culture, wildlife, and general Yukon history
- Knowledge and understanding of northern lights behavior and phenomenon
- Exceptional communication and interpretation skills
- Fluent in English and French
- Experience in astronomy is an asset
